Using Import History Sets

Each time you import fonts into your FontAgent® catalog, it creates an Import History set to log your request. Import History sets are a powerful tool for organizing and managing your font catalog.

Automatic Creation of Import History Sets

When the process of importing fonts completes, FontAgent displays a new set with a timestamped name in the Import History section of the Sets Sidebar. Even if you import fonts directly into an existing set, FontAgent still creates an Import History set to log your import request.

Display and Hide Import History Sets

To display Import History Sets, follow these steps:

  1. Make sure the Sets Sidebar (Left Sidebar) is visible by clicking on the View command in the menu ribbon and checking the Sets Sidebar checkbox. You can also type Ctrl-L to toggle the display of the sidebar.
  2. If Import History sets are not visible, click the disclosure triangle to the left of the Import History group in the sidebar.

Rename History Sets

If you wish, you can rename the time-stamped name of an Import History set to another name you choose. To rename a history set, follow these steps:

  1. Right-click the Import History set's entry in the left sidebar and select the Edit command.

  1. FontAgent displays a dialog with the current name of the set. Enter the new name for the set and press Enter.

Delete History Sets

When you delete an Import History set, FontAgent deletes the set and the fonts it contains from your FontAgent catalog. To delete an Import History set, follow these steps.

  1. Right-click the Import History set's entry in the left sidebar.
  2. Select the Delete command and FontAgent displays a dialog asking you to confirm deletion of the set.
  3. Click OK to confirm the set's deletion.

Uses of History Sets

Among the many uses of Import History sets, you can use them to:

  • Preserve the organization of font folders as you import them
  • Keep a time-stamped log of your import requests
  • Undo a mistaken import request
  • Clean up imported fonts when a project or job is finished

Design, prepress and printing houses can delete Import History sets and the fonts they contain at the end of projects to stop fonts that they imported on behalf of their clients from becoming permanent parts of their font collections.
